Here is the best thing I heard (What?), saw (Eye.), and read (Read.) this week, as well as the best idea (π‘) I developed.
What?
followHim Podcast β Alma 23-29 β Professor Lori Denning:
- [Professor Lori Denning] “We need everybody in the kingdom. I often think of the idea of Zion – there were no poor among them. [See Moses 7:18] I think that means we valued everybody for what they brought. We valued all the skills that came rather than they just didn’t have any cash. If you’re a musician, we value that. If you’re a teacher, we value that. If you’re an accountant, we value that. Good at gardening? You got it. Good at administrating? Fantastic. Good with kids? We need that too. Can you drive a car? We need that. We need people that can do everything – it’s a kingdom after all.”

“What Do We Mean When We Say the Church Is True?“, Elder J. Devn Cornish, June 2024 Liahona:
- “So what do we mean when we say the Church is true if we donβt mean that itβs perfect?
“First and foremost, we mean that it is led by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself through living prophets and apostles.
“We mean that it has all the scriptures God has revealed and every doctrine and truth of importance for our salvation.
“We mean that it holds the priesthood authority to direct the Church and to administer the essential ordinances, and we mean that those ordinances will be valid both in this life and in the eternities.
“We mean that those who follow its precepts will have enduring joy both in this life and forever.
“We mean that those who receive the saving ordinances and keep the associated covenants, repenting sincerely as required, positively will be exalted in the celestial kingdom of God.
“And especially we mean that the Holy Ghost will bear witness of these things to sincere seekers of the truth.
“Following the teachings of the Church worksβit makes us better people, brings us peace and joy, and prepares us to return to our Heavenly Father.”

At times, I feel exhausted just thinking about general authorities, missionaries, and humanitarian workers and the effort they put forth in others’ behalf. But this week, I had this profound thought:
- The service these individuals provide is the same work I’ll be engaged in for eternity if I inherit a place in the celestial kingdom. Thus, it’s crucial to grow to love to serve all of our Heavenly Father’s children for our entire lives, no matter how frustrating or overwhelming, at times, that service may be.
