Here is the best thing I heard (What?), saw (Eye.), and read (Read.) this week, as well as the best idea (π‘) I developed.
What?
Elder Russell M. Nelson, “Youth of the Noble Birthright: What Will You Choose?“, CES Devotional for Young Adults, September 6, 2013, Brigham Young UniversityβHawaii:
- “Arguments swirl around that the earth is dangerously overpopulated and that couples should restrict the number of their children. … However, at the fifth World Congress of Families, in 2009, Sister Nelson and I heard a scholar present a paper in which he made a stunning statement. He said that if each man, woman, and child now living upon the earth were allotted a quarter of an acre of land, all 6.8 billion people would fit in the country of Brazil, with 20 percent of Brazil still left unoccupied. … I checked that calculation. It is correct.”

(07/13/25) | Music & the Spoken Word 5,000th Broadcast | The Tabernacle Choir:
- “In the weeks leading up to this 5,000th broadcast, we received more than 1,200 inspirational stories and experiences from viewers and listeners around the world. If there was one consistent theme throughout these messages, it was this: Music & the Spoken Word stirred something deep within me, a feeling that gave me the strength to continue forward.”
Read.
“Thinking in Bets: Making Smarter Decisions When You Don’t Have All the Facts” by Annie Duke:
- “If our only options are being 100% right or 100% wrong, with nothing in between, then information that potentially contradicts a belief requires a total downgrade, from right all the way to wrong. There is no ‘somewhat less sure’ option in an all-or-nothing world, so we ignore or discredit the information to hold steadfast in our belief.”

When preparing our General Conference+ episodes for the General Conference Applied Podcast, divide the material so that we each focus on one half of the First Presidency‘s and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles‘ material.
