Here is the best thing I heard (What?), saw (Eye.), and read (Read.) this week, as well as the best idea (๐ก) I developed.
What?
followHim Podcast – 2 Nephi 6-10 – Dr. Robert L. Millet:
- “These first two verses [of 2 Nephi chapter 9] get us started and I’ll just mention, as I thought about this through the years, it seems almost like an abrupt jump from the first few verses to suddenly we’re talking about Atonement. Until one day it hit me that maybe what we’re doing here is Jacob is suggesting that the scattering of Israel is like unto the Fall of Adam and Eve. The gathering of Israel is like unto the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It isn’t really a jump. He’s talking about a form of scattering and a form of gathering and the greatest gathering of course, is to Jesus Christ. (Robert L. Millet)
“Bob, I wonder if you could even add creation there. The creation of the covenant, the scattering of the covenant people, the gathering. You’ve got Creation, Fall, Atonement, the pillars of eternity.” (Hank Smith)
Eye.
I played the board game ‘Monopoly’ with my boys for the first time and they loved it. ‘Monopoly’ was my favorite board game growing up, so I was pleased that my boys liked it so much!
Read.
“The Breath of Life“, October 2006 Ensign:
- “Jennifer recorded the experience in her journal: ‘Mom and Dad came in the room, and Mom asked me how it felt. I took a deep breath, something I hadnโt been able to do in a long, long time, and began weeping. I was crying, not so much because of what it felt like right then, but because of the complete realization of what that feeling meant. It meant that cystic fibrosis was forever gone from my new lungs and that I was going to live. I simply felt relieved, grateful and incredibly, incredibly overcome with joy. As I began to cry, so did everyone elseโmy family and the entire medical staff.'”

General Conference Applied season 3 episode 0 will be composed of the following three parts: 1) My initial thoughts from the April 2024 General Conference; 2) Recap of the April 2024 General Conference Leadership Instruction; 3) Identifying the major topics and overall themes from the April 2024 General Conference.
- General Conference Applied season 2 episode 0 focused solely on my initial thoughts from the October 2023 General Conference.
- In the leadership session for the Bluffdale Independence Stake Conference on Saturday, February 17, 2024, Elder Paul N. Clayton (Area Seventy) shared the importance of reviewing the instructions delivered in the General Conference Leadership Meeting.

- A good friend, and a subscriber of the What? Eye. Read. ๐ก newsletter, suggested that I might create a spreadsheet for each General Conference and begin identifying the major topics that are being covered (especially by the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles), thereby identifying any overall themes. He indicated that a similar idea was suggested in a book he is reading: “Receiving Personal Revelation: Using a Journal to Improve Your Communication with God” by Larry W. Tippetts.
