Here is the best thing I heard (What?), saw (Eye.), and read (Read.) this week, as well as the best idea (💡) I developed.
What?
Sacrament Meeting | Bluffdale Independence 7th Ward | Sunday, June 23, 2024:
- Bishop Bytheway: Faith, hope, and charity are like a three-legged stool. When we are feeling weak in one of these areas, lean into the other two.
- President McIntyre:
- ‘Presentism‘: “Uncritical adherence to present-day attitudes, especially the tendency to interpret past events in terms of modern values and concepts.”
- Joseph Smith’s Prophetic Mission: “I never told you I was perfect; but there is no error in the revelations which I have taught.”
“If I had not actually got into this work and been called of God, I would back out. But I cannot back out: I have no doubt of the truth.”
“I speak boldly and faithfully and with authority. … I know what I say; I understand my mission and business. God Almighty is my shield; and what can man do if God is my friend?”
“You don’t know me; you never knew my heart. No man knows my history. I cannot tell it: I shall never undertake it. I don’t blame any one for not believing my history. If I had not experienced what I have, I would not have believed it myself.”
Eye.
“Diamond” | Nik Day | Music Video:
- “When you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders,
“When gravity’s pulling you down from the light,
“Don’t ever forget when it seems it’s the hardest,
“That’s when you rise to the highest of heights.
“When you climb out of the cave you’re in, you’ll finally understand
“That the One who made you always held you in His perfect hands.
“Oh.
“You are, You are a Diamond
“So bright, treasured, and priceless,
“A timeless work of art.
“We see the gleam inside your heart.
“When you feel under pressure,
“It’s just making you stronger.
“Remember you were born for this.
“You are a Diamond.”
Read.
“What’s in It for Me?“, President James E. Faust, October 2002 General Conference:
- “One of life’s paradoxes is that a person who approaches everything with a what’s-in-it-for-me attitude may acquire money, property, and land, but in the end will lose the fulfillment and the happiness that a person enjoys who shares his talents and gifts generously with others.”
💡
Though all four of my grandparents had already passed away by the time I started the General Conference Applied Podcast, I had a spiritual impression on Monday, June 24, 2024, while listening to the hymn “Gethsemane“, that my grandparents are proud of me for my efforts, and that they are encouraging me to keep going with the podcast.
