Here is the best thing I heard (What?), saw (Eye.), and read (Read.) this week, as well as the best idea (💡) I developed.
What?
Teaching the One (Phil Allred & Camey Andersen) | Y Religion Podcast:
- [Joseph Smith] “I have for myself learned a fact by experience which on reflection gives me deep sorrow. It is a truth that if I now had in my possession every decision which has been given upon important items of doctrine and duties since the rise of this church, they would be of incalculable worth to the Saints, but we have neglected to keep record of such things.”
- [Phil Allred] “As a teacher, one of the more powerful things we can do is help people keep a record of what they’re learning and foster that inside the classroom, not just outside the classroom.”
Eye.
The (Invisible) Ways the World is Getting Better: The good news you don’t hear from the media:
- “What You Need to Know:
“Teen pregnancy has dropped by 78% since 1991.
“Drunk driving deaths are down 55% since 1982.
“Only 12% of adults smoked in 2022, down from 43% in 1965.”
Read.
“Voices in the Book of Mormon: Discovering Distinctive Witnesses of Jesus Christ” by John Hilton III:
- “Sometimes we, like Abinadi, may reach only ‘the one,’ but we can have hope knowing that our influence may extend beyond what we know. On other occasions we might be ‘the one’ to speak up in difficult circumstances. In a pivotal moment, Alma stood alone in believing the words of the Lord’s prophets. We too may have opportunities to be the only one to stand for what is right-our decisions to do so can influence others in ways we could never predict.”

I should start praying for someone who would be willing to join us as an administrative assistant and/or a social media manager for the General Conference Applied Podcast.
